Crockett Park HOA

Our daughter and son-in-law recently purchased a home in the new Crockett Park subdivision off Barkuloo Road. They reviewed a copy of the deed restrictions before the purchase and were assured they would be strictly enforced.

Now they are living their worst nightmare; they are watching their neighborhood swiftly deteriorate and it is only about a year old. They have complained to their HOA, like many of their neighbors, but nothing is ever done. Their HOA dues, which are not cheap, appear to be going in a black hole along with their letters. There is no park, no playground, no pool, no pretty landscaping around the entrance that must be maintained. So, just where does this money go? It goes to pay the salaries of the HOA employees who do nothing but sit in an office on the other side of Houston.

Crockett Park is a small subdivision of single family dwellings, but from the number of vehicles parked in front of several of the houses (24/7), there must be numerous families living in each. There are also camper trailers and 18-wheeler cabs being parked on the streets overnight. These narrow streets are already in competition with speeding vehicles, 4-wheelers, go-karts, and construction vehicles. Some of the front yards look like landscaping nurseries there are so many plants and shrubs while others are littered with stuff and one with a utility trailer parked in the side yard. All of the above, and others that I have not mentioned here, are in violation of the Crockett Park deed restrictions.

Brighton Homes and the Community Association of Crockett Park, Inc. should be ashamed. Another soon-to-be trashy neighborhood has been added to the already numerous trashy neighborhoods around Baytown.

We are in Cary Creek and I can Sympathize with you. It isn't as bad as you said Bert, but it is getting there. We don't even know who our H O A is yet. So there is no one to whom to complain to. The builder here is Providian Manor Homes, Peter Wandio is the owner, and it is IMPOSSABLE to get him to do anything in this subdivision! And the house that we bought is already having problems in which he refuses to repair, we have only been here 7 months, and the walls are starting to crack and nails coming through the walls and ceiling and many many more issues. I have sent him several letters and to no avail. The city should have something in place to avoid these issues. Something in the Inspection and Permit dept. I think I am going to put a sign in MY yard discouraging people from buying here.

All HOA’s must put their bylaws and deed restrictions on public file. For us this meant filing them with the Harris County Clerk’s Office. If the this sub-division is in Harris County, check with the Clerk's Office. All your contacts should be listed in the files. Hope this helps.

There has been a sign at Baker & N. Main for a long time about a Baker St. extension. How are they going to match up with E. Baker or will it just come to a dead end?
