Unhappy neighbors

when the traffic slows down, maybe the neighborhood will become more neighbor friendly. It is too easy to dial 911, go to the neighbor and find a resolution for whatever problem you have. I do not like being locked inside my house, and I am sure there are others that feel the same.

Are you just venting or are you asking for comments? I'm confused.

My read is that the poster thinks trhat the comments made on this forum have got people so concerned about crime in the neighborhood that everyone is barricaded in their homes. And is suggesting that the problems can be worked out through communicating directly with the bad actors instead of calling the police in to do it.

i have no position on it, just seems to be what she was intending to convey.
Maybe not.

Old River will become famous soon enough
Personally in some situations it's best to let the police take care of the problem. If it's a known "bad" neighbor, I'd rather a professional handle it instead of getting my head blown off trying to play amateur cop.

Also, by involving the police, there is usually a record of incidents in case of escalation or future problems. Back in the old days, if a kid broke your window you could go to their house & discuss it with the parents. The parents would pay for the damage & hopefully make the kid work off the money they had to spend. Now it is best to let the police sort it out.

Over the years i have had several things damaged accidently by kids playing. I have always let their parents know what happened but for a broken window, bump on a truck etc, I don't expect them to pay for it. As they say S.... Happens. i don't tend to have repeat problems either.

We don't live in Mayberry and there are some neighbors that you wouldn't want to approach ever! The police are trained to do the job that most of us didn't have the heart or guts to attempt. I feel safer letting them do their job when I have a problem with anyone!
