Thank you for putting the Red Cedar Subdivision in the web-page, there seems to be alot going on out here that people aren't reporting. I can't stress to you enough if you see something suspicious or out of the ordinary don't hesitate to call the BPD.

I guess nobody from Red Cedar comes to this web site, I guess I will talk to my self on here. Since moving into the Red Cedar Subdivision, my wife and I have heard from the neighbors about vehicles getting broken into, houses being robbed, kids vandleizing people's car with spray paint (those kids have moved though), and really you think nothing of it until it happens to you.
On Saturday morning of March 08, 2008, at 4:30am, I woke up to my dogs barking and a light knocking on my door. I get up, see the time and thinking it might be a neighbor in trouble. So I try to calm my dogs down and get to the front door, flip the light on, look through the peep hole and who is it? Three guys wearing all hoodies and looking down at the door knob to see if it was going to turn. There were two little guys and one big guy holding a pistol grip shotgun.. Not being a gun owner at the time, I kind of got very very nervous and scared. I immediatley called the police. Even after i got off the phone with the dispatcher the guys were still standing there. I went and looked out my bathroom window which is in the front of the house and I didn't see a car. So what do I do but call my dad, because by that time i'm thinking there just going to kick the door in.
But still standing on the tub looking out my window, I see them start to walk off. They ended up parking at foreclosed home about 5-6 houses down. It may have been dark but i have eyes like a hawk. They sat in the car for a few minutes i guess to see how long it would take for the cops to get there. After the cops got there, and i told them what happened me and my wife left. It was almost 6 because the cops sat around for a while which i was very thankful for. Long story short the car i described lives down the street. I have to drive by it every day knowing that these people that did this to us live in our neighborhood. I don't have physical evidence but the car and color and it being the only vehicle in the subdivision with no ice on the windshield was a big clue for me. So watch out everybody, you may have good neighbors but you don't know everyone in the neighborhood and what there capable of.

Good you didn't open your door without looking like a lot of folks will do. And the fear of reprisal can be understood.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Sounds like you helped the situation and got a weapon. Be sure to get the proper training, if you don't already have it.

A gun is useless, and dangerous, if you don't know how to use it.

Thank you guys for the imput, it was really hard to talk about at first. Stayed up many nights after that just watching out the window. I was trained on the weapon when i worked security.

A taser would be useful too. You just have to get closer to use it.

I just came across this thread. First, you did a good thing by checking the peephole first and then calling the cops. Keep your eyes open, and let your neighbors know about this place.
