The place you love to hate.....

....HAS to be Golden Corral.
I can't imagine that any restaurant in Baytown approaches even half of the volume that Golden Corral does, especially on the weekends, yet you don't hear many people talking about it. For my money, when I'm especially hungry it's nice to sit down and have a salad you put together yourself, then a choice of entree and sides, even if it's not exactly haute cuisine....the pot roast, catfish, and fried chicken are all pretty consistent.
Also, if you consider yourself fashion-savvy and somewhat sophisticated, I challenge you to find a better place to people-watch on a Sunday to see fashions and styles you won't see anywhere this side of Antioch Second Baptist Missionary Church....it's a hoot.....

Wife and I go there once a month or so.
I always while looking at the food choices remember why I don't go there more often.
Good for a quick meal when you are on the go.

Today it was Cracker Barrell...had gift cards and didn't want to cook or eat leftovers. Hubby ordered the Reuben sandwich which sounds big till you get it, it was cold...ugh #1for him, coleslaw sort of eww, the steak fries were the best part for him! I got the fish special which was catfish spears of some kind, tartar sauce, steak fries and fried okra. Okra was okay, fish was hot but kinda salty for my taste but I don't salt anything at home, and no cornbread but the biscuits were good. This was during a slow time of day around 3-3:30, took 20 minutes or more to bring the food so maybe why the sandwich was colder than it should have been. I have to drag hubby out of the house for anything and this did not make him a happy camper but since it was 'free' with gift card he was a lot more lenient and didn't complain although he should have. We now have a Restaraunt.com gift card to use and not many Baytown businesses use them so may have to go Seabrook/Kemah way and drag hubby out of the house again since there will be no more football weekends for a while...lol! Oh, would so love to hit Golden Corral again soon for the buffet and I am 105 lbs but you would be surprised what I can pack in! Hot fudge brownie dessert with ice cream/whatever, I would find room for that!

Golden Corral is great for a quick basic dinner.

Hate that parents let their kids run wild around the food.

I love Golden Corral food. Basic American food is always good. The only draw back for me is that it reminds me of how fat our town really is. Over 80% of the people that eat there are over weight (me included). Makes me depressed but doesn't stop me from going back and getting that second roll! LOL

Do they grill steak at the Garth Rd location?
I know the old location on i10 grilled huge sirloins at lunch but have not had the opportunity to visit the new Golden Corral on i10.

It's funny that Ryan's shut down Golden Corral and then the new GC shut down Ryan's.

May not have happened exactly like that but it sure did seem like it.
